TEL• A• VISION Day

TELAVISION Day - a day when people all over the world celebrate the importance of vision. A day when schools, families, businesses and organizations take part in activities focused on vision stories and the importance of vision to our future. This is more than just TELAVISION, it is all of the ways people celebrate vision, from story telling, to art , dance, and theatre , and share them in their communities. We will emphasize all of the ways that stories of hope and possibility can be told.

TELAVISION Day is an annual holiday modeled after TechiesDay - a national Holiday begun in 1999 to celebrate Technology professionals.

Here is a look at the vision of
TELAVISION Day in 2011 and the difference it will have made in the world.

  Why?

A society's future is determined by its images of its future. This is the hypothesis first shared by Fred Polak in his book "Images of the Future."  We are at a critical time of tremendous negativity where we need more than anything positive images of the future.

  When?

The first TELAVISION Day will be on the spring Equinox, March 20, 2009.

  How?

    Activities may include the following:

An online experience and a kit of materials that are instructions to schools, cities and organizations on how to put on their own
Tel•a•vision Day celebration.

A 24 hour broadcast on the Internet on
TELAVISION videos created around the world showing hope and possibility, with live cuts to celebrities showcasing their videos and live activities celebrating vision.

A special branded version of One True Media that focuses on everything you need to create your
TELAVISION. It allows users to create their own online sites for TELAVISION TV from their organization.

Children around the world who produce
TELAVISION for their families and their communities. Each local market has a best of contest. The winners are played on local and national media.

    We play
TELAVISIONs on media all over the world including the Internet, Cable TV and Jumbotrons. People donate money ( AKA Firefox) to have either their or others TELAVISION play.

We create a huge viral marketing campaign. Get celebrities to make
TELAVISION TV or PSAs on the importance of vision to their lives including the presidential candidates.

Plan very public events around the country on
TELAVISION Day including a celebration/ awards dinner on Times Square.

 Who will support?

We have already had a number of groups and individuals that want to help bring TELAVISION Day to the widest possible audience.

    People from the Storyfield group

    Other people who are supporting
TELAVISION Day

We will have Media Sponsors including a TV network, a cable TV network and an Internet media company.

We will pursue the Department of Education as a sponsor based upon the potential to affect Media Literacy in the classroom.

We will find all of the organizations that resonate with this vision and get them to endorse it. We will work with them on how they engage their constituents to create activites in their areas on TelavisionDay.
